Planning Permission | Val Thorens
If you are looking to extend or build a property in Val Thorens you must submit a planning application or a demande de permis de construire to the Mairie. If the surface area of your development is going to exceed 150m2 it is obligatory you work alongside a qualified architect, if you don’t your planning application will be rejected.
The application process is complicated and often application forms are sent back to the applicant for being incomplete.
Alongside the form you will also have to submit:
- A written description of the build
- Layout and elevation plans
- Site photographs
- Drawings of the building
- A plan a at scale of between 1/5000 and 1/250000
Once you have submitted your application the Mairie will send you an official receipt and planning registration number. They will also advertise your application outside of the town hall. Once the Mairie has your application and all of the relevant information you should receive your permission within 3 month of application.
After you receive your permission you must display a public notice at the site which will remain there for the duration of the build. The Mairie also has a cooling off period where they can withdraw planning consent of 3 months, though this happening is a rarity. Some notaires will often only consider planning permission as definite once this three month period has passed.
Please fill out the form on this page if you would like any further information about real estate in Val Thorens.
