Saint Martin de Belleville is a historical, charming village located just a few miles down the mountain from Les Menuires in the Val Thorens Valley. It is connected to both Les Menuires and Meribel by chairlifts. If you are looking for a quaint village packed full of Savoyard history to stay in on your ski holiday, then look no further than Saint Martin.
A large part of the appeal of this village is it’s true Savoyard history. The village is centred around a 17th-century Church and its bell tower. Winding streets, farmhouses and chalets surround it. It even has a museum to trace its history, a perfect non-skiing activity to truly appreciate the beautiful village you are staying in. Despite it’s quaint features, there is still a lot going on in Saint Martin. If you’re going out at night, there are more than a dozen restaurants to choose from, including one with three michelin stars. So you can enjoy both the beautiful scenery and the beautiful cuisine Saint Martin has to offer. There are also a few supermarkets, and a great butchers if you would rather stay in and cook for yourselves. Within the winding streets, Saint Martin has everything you could need for a great holiday.
Despite being lower down in the valley, it is still a very well connected resort, and so it makes a great base to explore the whole of the Three Valleys. Still situated at 1400m, the pistes back down to the resort stay in great condition throughout the season. Its connected to both Les Menuires and Meribel by the Saint Martin express, making it easy to get to the whole of the Three Valleys within a few lifts. Les Menuires is one of the best resorts for intermediate skiing and those learning, so Saint Martin makes a great base for families looking for somewhere more idyllic to stay. Saint Martin is also in the Val Thorens valley, accessible by lift or bus, which has some great off-piste and steeper terrain skiing. The piste back into Saint Martin, Jerusalem, is loved by locals and visitors alike, and heralded as one of the best runs in the Three Valleys. So, staying in Saint Martin gives you access to the world’s largest ski resort and quick access to some of the best skiing in the Three Valleys for all abilities.
