Get out skiing early!
If you aren’t having lessons get first lifts and enjoy 45 minutes at the start of the day before everyone hits the hill in their lessons at 9:30/10am. You’ll also miss the bus crush.
If your kids are having lessons, split up and take it in turns within the group/family so one can wait with the kids for ski school drop off and the others can enjoy an early morning ski. This also avoids first day tears (hopefully).
Stay on the slopes at lunchtime
Have an early snack break at 11am (avoiding the ski school return back to the meeting-points) and then keep skiing through lunch when the slopes are quieter. You can stop for lunch when everyone else hits the slopes again. Less queues for skiing and less queuing/crowds for lunch!
Pack a picnic
It can be expensive travelling with kids and eating out on the mountain but there are a number of free picnic spots and rooms. Pack a picnic for a couple of days and then you can eat at your own pace and without any hassle.
Alternatively if you are staying in Meribel ask us for a voucher for La Folie Douce where you can get a self-serve meal & dessert for €9. Or check out Le Pain d’Antan bakery in the Forum in Courchevel 1850 for their great value lunch stop menus including a sandwich, dessert & drink.
Avoid ski traffic back to Resort
Try to finish your day skiing at 3pm and maybe head to the pool or bowling etc. This helps to avoid bus queues and busyness at the end of the day. It’s a nice way to ease out your tired muscles. Alternatively, grab a crepe and a hot chocolate to refuel and then head back to your accommodation.
Make the most of expert knowledge
Call us for advice we have skied through half term week for years now and know the slopes that will be quietest and the best places for a mountain lunch. Alternatively it can definitely be worth booking a ski instructor or guide even if you are an advanced skier as they can take you to the best runs and even off piste.
